Mostly Harmless is a Prima 38, based at Hamble Point Marina on the Solent, owned since October 2002 by Tom Hayhoe and Natalie Jobling. Launched in 1998, she was originally called Prima Facie and then renamed Fiver by her original owner after the family cat.
This is the second Mostly Harmless, the previous one being a Laser 5000 Tom and Natalie raced in the early 1990s. (The name is partly a homage to Douglas Adams. The National 12 we raced between 1983 and 1998 was called 42 - the answer to the ultimate question of life the universe and everything.)
Our background is in racing small dinghies, especially National 12s, before serving an 11 year apprenticeship for the Prima in the Solent Sigma 33 fleet. Our principal sailing club memberships are Ranelagh SC and Castaways, and we are also members of JOG and RORC.
We have a large pool of crew who helped us campaign our previous boat, Mithril. But with 10 needed to race a Prima 38, there are sometimes gaps to fill and the opportunity to bring new people with appropriate experience on board. Please contact Tom or crew-boss Ian Carter to find out more.
Visit the class website for more information about Prima 38s.
