Castaways was founded in 1952 for former members of the University of London Sailing Club (ULSC)

The  objectives are:

1.  to promote sailing and racing, especially team racing, among members

2.  to promote the continuity and ensure the wellbeing of ULSC and assist it in every possible way

3.  to form a permanent bond between keen ex-members of ULSC

For many years it has been one of the UK's leading team racing clubs and organises the Foot Trophy team racing event for Fireflies at the Welsh Harp every October.

Members can be found at open meetings and club racing in every corner of the country and some of its luckier cruising members can be found taking it easy in just about every corner of the globe.

The club has recently purchased a (nearly) new Firefly, FTSE, which is available for charter by members for team racing and open meeting sailing.
